out of the various beautiful caves that line the forested paths
of the
floresta da tijuca, or
tijuca forest, one of the most
popular among visitors is called
gruta gabriela -
right along the path of the rio archer (archer river).
it is known for
its lush, green vegetation at its entrance and a
mini waterfall
that cascades into a small pool at the front of it.
just above
it flows an even larger
waterfall, and continuing upwards and to
the left lie the ruins of humaitá, for anyone interested in
further exploration.
it is in relative close proximity to another caves
worth visiting -
gruta paulo e virgínia.
