the hiking trails in pedra branca are much more difficult to navigate than many of the other trails located in nearby mountains, due to the dense vegetation, rocky terrain and hidden trails. this adds to the dangers of  snakes, spiders and scorpions, who all live in the forest.

pedra branca is not recommeded for the average hiker - visitors have to be in good physical condition to hike here - and if they choose not to use a local guide, they require sufficient experience in the use of a gps.
