it towers over the tijuca florest, one of the world's largest urban forest, and its access road is via estrada das canoas in são conrado before continuing along estrada da pedra bonita.

after reaching the trail head, its about a 40 minute moderate-level walk to the summit. the trail winds through tropical vegetation, with exotic butterflies flitting from banana tree to banana tree until reaching the top of pedra bonita, which is mostly bald and void of greenery.
