The mesa do emperador (Emperor's Table), one the stopping point for Dom Pedro II and his nobles and burghers for lunch, is another local landmark.

The Valley History circuit gives the visitor a good starting point of the major sights of the Park - starting at the mayrink chapel which has murals by Brazilian neo-realism painter Cândido Portinari and the Visitor Center which welcomes guests from far and wide with a permanent exhibit entitled 'A Forest in the Metropolis,' featuring a history of the Park along with games, diagrams, photos and videos.

there are many trails in the tijuca forest, with the most important being the trilha circular externa major archer and the trilha circular interna castro maia - at times overlapping, both trails give a spectacular tour of the forest, reaching many of the most famous points of interest along properly maintained routes with clear signals.
