at a glance

These two trails are concentric, with major archer trail being 35 km long and at a higher altitude then the shorter castro maya track only 15 km long.

Catro maya is a particularly popular route, as it incorporates caves, historical building, ruins, pic-nic areas, and restaurants along the way.

importantly, both trails have periodic access points that connect to paved roads, so that it is possible to explore each track a portion at a time, over several days.

Also along the circuit are the cavesof belmiroand luís fernandes, honoring the men who worked on the reforestation of parque da tijuca, and the gruta do morcego(Cave of the Bats, or bat-cave), with a depth of nearly 300 ft formed by a massive fracture.                       arrow-back     arrow-forward
