at a glance

cachoeira do lagarto, or lizard waterfall, is a tributary of the river, which runs through the valley that holds the same name. cachoeira dos gravatás can be reached via borda do mato road or maranópolis road. it is a beautiful waterfall, originated by the water of perdido river, the trail to access it starts at paulo e virgínia cave. cachoeira mãe d'água, also known as cachoeira do grajaú has traditionally been one of the most popular waterfalls in this area.

this last cachoeira is also a tributary of perdido river, where tree trunks serve as natural diving boards, however swimmers who are not familiar with this area need to be cautious since the pool is not very deep - the waterlevel of the river has dropped in the past years, since the water has been diverted to provide water to the  favela community of borda do mato. this has been a controversial issue for neighbors and visitors of the park. arrow-back     arrow-forward
