the açude do camorim refers to a reservoir found in a natural basin, deep in the pedra branca state park in the city of rio de janeiro. housing the grand camorim waterfall, this reservoir rises 436 meters high above sea level. the access path winds approximately an hour and a half through what is known as the world's largest urban national park.

the camorim waterfall is truly an impressive sight, cascading in waves down the rock face until it empties into the reservoir below. to get an idea of its size, the area expands 210,000 cubic meters, and is roughly 18 meters deep. swimming in this waterfall is not permitted by authorities in the area, as there are dangerous sink holes, in addition to its role as a water source for homes and businesses in the surrounding area.
