at 30m height, the cascatinha taunay waterfall, is smaller than the others, it charms visitors with its exuberant vegetation and was named after french painter nicholas antoine taunay. cachoeira da gruta is located close to one of the main entrances of tijuca, via pacheco leăo road.
cachoeira do chuveiro falls about 32 feet and creates beautiful natural pools. it is a subsidiary of the river do pai ricardo. access to this waterfall is via the vista chinesa trail. this is one of the most popular waterfalls in the whole park. there are two more waterfalls along the trail to the cachoeira dos primatas (waterfall of the primates)the first one has a great spot for bathing and offers magnificent views of the rodrigo de freitas lagoon .
about 3 kilometers away from the entrance to floresta da tijuca via park alfonso viseu is cachoeira das almas (waterfall of souls). the history behind its name says that during the 19th century slaves would practice their sacred rituals and purify their soul in this exact same spot.
