for runs along the beachfront there are numerous paths designed and the flamego/botafogo path is a great example of this. starting from marina da glória this route runs all the way to botafogo bay and is packed with incredible views, including the huge ships entering the bay, the city's downtown skyscrapers, and Sugar Loaf mountain (pão de açúcar).

another fantastic option is the path stretching from leblon to ipanema, particularly on a sunday. this is because one of the main roads is closed to traffic during the weekend, meaning that runners can take to a two-lane street as well as the pavement and running path.
