paquetá, iracema was a sacred
virgin, destined to the gods, and not to be romanced by any man.
moema
was another girl on the island, and
curimbatá
was her brother, the strongest indian
in the tribe.
iracema, moema, and curimbatá were all close friends,
and inevitably the strong iracema and the beautiful curimbatá fell
in love with each other.
