they all compete against one another, so that they could be promoted into becoming a samba school of group d, and parade in that group the following year.

the best bloco de enredo from group 1 becomes part of the samba school group d.  

conversely, for each bloco group 1 to 4, the worse thematic block parades as simple street block the following year.
