the league of schools of samba in rio de janeiro (liga das escolas de samba do rio de janeiro - lierj) was founded after the 2012 carnival by the presidents of the associations of the access groups a and b, in order to promote and strengthen this aspect of the parade and advance its structure.

lierj looks to improve the organization of future carnivals, boosting the quality of the event, promoting its history and cultural aspects, all the while keeping the promotion of human and creative development as core focuses.

the organization works with the municipality of rio, rio tur, and other public agencies to plan the carnival parade.
