santa teresa is now famous as the favorite neighborhood of many artists, musicians, and other bohemian types - every year, typically in july, many artists here open the doors to their studios and put their creations on display during the arte das portas abertas festival (art of the open doors festival). coming as an idea from the artists to make their work more easily reachable, the Arte de Portas Abertas, releases the privacy of dozens of workshops  simultaneously, allowing the neighborhood to access and interact with the spaces, normally reserved for the creation of the artwork. the whole neighborhood is populated with art during this colorful event, with random artists from other parts of town attending, street vendors, and music.
