The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies IFRC is the largest and probably the most widely known humanitarian aid network in activity worldwide, and reaches more than 189 countries, Brazil among them.

They act before, during and after disasters and emergencies to help improve the quality of life of vulnerable people without discrimination of color, creed or origin - Based almost solely on volunteer work, the organization prides itself on its ability to bring hope to people in state of necessity around the world by 'saving lives and changing minds'.

But their aim is not only to provide instantaneuos aid, but to act beyond palliatives and empower vulnerable individuals in order to get them out of the situation of helplessness and into a position of power over their lives and therefore over the society around them - For that reason the Red Cross works with more than medical personnel, achieving a complete solution to the problem.
