The National Cancer Institute (INCA) is a subsidiary body of the Ministry of Health, located in Praça Cruz Vermelha, which develops and co-ordinates actions for the prevention and control of cancer in Brazil.

The seeds for the current institution were sowed in 1937, when an Oncology Center was created in Rio de Janeiro - Today, the institute provides medical assistance directly and free of charge to cancer patients, trains specialized professionals in prevention and early detection, and conducts research and develop in the area of epidemiology.
