Associação Brasileira Beneficente de Reabilitação, ABBR was first founded in 1954 in response to outcries and suffering resulting from the national polio epidemic, providing victims with access to specialised treatment and social integration programs.

The institute, located in Jardim Botânica, continues to provide rehabilitation services to people of all ages suffering from limited motor activity, seeing over 1,200 patients a day, 70% of whom are from low-income backgrounds - Recognised as a pioneer rehabilitation centre, they aim to stimulate sufferers potential for independence and dignified living conditions.
