most cariocas would not want to live anywhere else, and just as much as they love their city, cariocas love their own culture, quoting folk proverbs and songs in many occasions - very music inclined, cariocas seem to know the lyrics of just about any brazilian song.

reoccurring economic and political uncertainties, experienced by rio's residents throughout history, led to an innate optimism and sense of empathy - finding a way to work together to solve a problem is a first instinct.
