milongas can be found in a few locations throughout the city - they are a places or events where people can dance tango, and most are held on a regular basis.

modern day cariocas still look back to the 'golden age' of brazilian tango - to the likes of hugo del carril and alberto castillo - but there are a number of established modern stars thrilling crowds today. 

however, deceased argentines such as aníbal troilo, rodolfo biagi, and julio de caro are still highly regarded today - one of these contemporary stars is carlinhos de jesus, who was born in rio de janeiro in 1957 and has gained a loyal following and is currently director of casa de dança carlinhos de jesus, which he established himself.
