the space has a total area of 3.000 square meters distributed between its exhibition galleries, theaters, recreation areas and administration offices.

it is open tuesday to friday from 9am to 8 pm, but visits are by appointment - on saturday, sunday and holidays, the center is open from 10 am to 8 pm and no previous appointment is required. the entrance is free.

along the same lines, the instituto ciência hoje - ich is a center for the dissemination of scientific knowledge based in botafogo. 

botafogo is also home to the samba school são clemente - one of the most traditional and cherished samba schools in rio de janeiro, every year taking part in the carnival parades in the sambódromo.
