villa lobos museum, a museum dedicated to the important brazilian musician born in 1887 in rio de janeiro - every november, villa lobos also promotes the villa lobos music festival.

originally located in the palácio gustavo capanema, it is now housed in a mansion in the botafogo section of rio de janeiro.

the museum is a window into the life of the composer - museu villa-lobos hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions in three large rooms covering the life of heitor villa-lobos, the most influential brazilian composer of the 20th century - in 1960 lobo's widowed wife formed museu villa-lobos in his honor.

Heitor Villa-Lobos was credited with developing a music style particularly 'brazilian' - in fact, his work included and combined elements from brazilian regional cultures, folk songs, and indigenous rhythms.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
