at a glance
november is a month marked by many important dates, such as the day that dom pedro ii, the second and last emperor of brazil, was deposed, a day turned in a national holiday marking the proclamation of the brazilian republic.

it is also the month for black awareness day (dia da conscięncia negra), a day set aside to remember the injustices experienced by slaves during the colonial period in brazil, and to celebrate all the contributions past and preent brazilians of african descent made to the country.

fun celebrations also dot the calendar in november, with hundredsof 'dead-walkers' taking over the beautiful coast of Copacabana on the Zombie Walk, and the election of king momo (rei momo), the king of carnival, the queen, and the princess, symbolic representatives of carnival season and officially awakening the city's carnival mood.    arrow-back      arrow-forward
