at a glance

finally, the colonial answer to the water shortage problem, would be the construction of a massive aqueduct which would cross the current city center. this project represented a great feat of engineering and was even equipped with a cover so that the water would not be contaminated by nature or diverted by third parties.

it was finally inaugurated in 1750 and was extended in the following years to reach a wider percentage of the population.

with time the need for the aqueduct decreased due to the appearance of more advanced and more efficient alternatives, thus leading to the conversion of the structure into a viaduct to facilitate the emerging means of transportation.
