The Underground section is comprised of a mausoleum, where the remains of the 466 Brazilian soldiers were laid to rest, as well as the Hall of Marshal Mascarenhas de Moraes, which contains a record of the force's plans, routes and activities in Italy.

The symbolic structure, designed by the architects Konder Marcos Netto and Helio Ribas Marine, has been visited by renowned figures, such as Pope John Paul II, Elizabeth II, Queen of England, and the then President of the United States, Jimmy Carter.

the granite sculpture homaging the soldiers of the three forces, was designed by sculptor alfredo ceschiatti, while the tiled panel in honor of the lost at sea was designed by anísio medeiros.    arrow-back      arrow-forward
