the bohemian nature of santa teresa and the characteristics of its residents and visitors mandates a certain amount of celebration and festivities - and the community delivers. besides the exuberant carnival celebration, There are numerous events throughout the year, many focussed on art and cultural expression.

most famously, every year, typically in july, many artists open the doors to their studios and put their creations on display during the arte das portas abertas festival (art with open doors festival). this event originated as an idea of local artists in 1996 and aims to make their work more accesible. the Arte de Portas Abertas, reveals the privacy of dozens of workshops  simultaneously, allowing the neighborhood to access and interact with the spaces, normally reserved for the creation of the artwork. arrow-back      arrow-forward
