at a glance

the hiking trail that ascends the sugar loaf mountain  starts at the very end of the pista cláudio coutinho, but should only be accessed by experienced hikers and/or with a local guide.

military club, the clube militar da praia vermelha, home to a unique restaurant open to the public - in addition to a spectacular view of the sugar loaf, it has live music on friday and saturday nights.

red beach is a quiet beach not normally used for public or cultural events, however every monday, wednesday, and friday night at 9 pm the movimento artístico da praia vermelha  plays samba and choro right on the promenade - this free event is a most endearing example of carioca life that we highly recommend.                     arrow-back      arrow-forward
