at a glance

The building still retains much of its original decoration and style, and the walls depict precious and rare murals of the most important Christian Saints. The Friars' dining room can also be visited, it contains large oil paintings and tiled panels. The architecture of the Church is Baroque, and on the altar is mounted a beautiful terracotta statue of St. Anthony.

One of the most remarkable features of the building is the sacristy, which retains its original ceiling, floor and multi-colored Portuguese marble tiles, as well as a delightful ark, formed of jacaranda wood.  published by sindicato Estadual dos Guias de Turismo do Rio de Janeiro - sindegtur, the article on this link provides a wealth of detailed information on Praça xv.    arrow-back      arrow-forward
