 casa de jose bonifácio (jose bonifácio's house) is located on the beach that received the name of the patriarchy of independence (praia josé bonifácio), and responsibility for the building was taken up by the national institute for cultural and artistic heritage (iphan) in 1938, however, since it is a private residential home, it is not open to public visits and may only be viewed from the outside. 

casa da moreninha refers to the pink house on the beach called praia grossa, and is visible right at the entrance to paquetá island - this is a private residence, and has the distinction of being the site of various scenes in the 1970s novela 'a moreninha' on tv globo, brazil's largest television and media network.
