The favela is a space which attracts the attention of foreign tourists - Believing it offers a glimpse into a reality very different from the realities in their  country of origin, the foreign tourist is prone to exoticize these neighborhoods. possibly, the foreigner also wishes to understand how it is possible for people to be happy in the midst of such material need.
