the neighborhood of lagoa rodrigo de freitas, more commonly known as simply lagoa, is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in rio de janeiro. the lagoon on the lake in the city by the sea and ipanema is one of the most picturesque spots in the city and connects to the atlantic via allah's gardens canal. sitting at the base of the corcovado mountain, the iconic christ the redeemer statue can be seen from atop the peak. circumventing the lake is a 7.5-kilometer hike and bike trail, just one of many outdoors recreation spots in the area.
