100 led spotlights, 120 km of tube lights, and 3.1 million bulbs were used to illuminate the tree.  

the christmas tree is also the spot from which the new year's eve fireworks in lagoa are launched, and the centerpiece of the local festivities.

this year, two barges at the base of the tree will set off eight minutes worth of fireworks.

for réveillon, the floating tree is positioned in front of the parque dos patins, to be easily seen from many viewpoints bordering the lagoa.
