as of recently, however, luxury hotels and expensive clubs aren't the only place to welcome in the new year in a private setting, as the poorer areas of the city are starting to make the most of their special locations, culture, and unique atmosphere. given that many favelas are built on incredibly steep, elevated terrain there are many unrivalled vantage points from which it is possible to soak up panoramic views of the ocean, shoreline, tijuca forest, and sprawling cityscape. as a result it is possible to watch the 16-minute réveillon display in spectacular fashion. |
