at a glance

there is a lot of variety with blocos, with different themes, and attracting various crowds, from families, to young college students - all blocos are always filled with creative spectators dressed in some very wild costumes.

there may be grown men dressed as babies, alongside a group of people dressed as furniture, or a pirate kissing a clown - there have been spartans dressed in pink wigs, and invariably there are many dressed in drag.

it is not uncommon to see dogs who are dressed in costumes by their owners - the tradition of switching or forgetting social roles and class differences has been utilized not long after the inception of the brazilian carnival, back in the 1850s.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
