the spread of darts internationally sparked many communities to promote the sport - many avid players pushed the activity into clubs and associations around the globe.

in 1978, the world professional darts championship was established and marked the dawn of professional darts throwing. due to disagreements among players and organizers in the community two world championships were formed in 1992 - this seperation exists until today.

darts were popular in brazil long before the creation of the world federation  - in 1987 brasil was granted affiliation with the world darts federation.
