the gymnastics federation of rio de janeiro was founded may 11th, 1950 - from that point on, it kept growing and promoted several events held in the city. the events included the tatiana figueiredo gymnastic championship and the rio de janeiro's scholar gymnastics tournament.

the city hosts many interesting practice locations -  the bigger sports clubs usually have spaces to practice gymnastics and include the fluminense football club and club de regatas vasco da gama.
