low ceilings, insects and humidity all contribute to the challenges available  during caving - the importance of safety and proper advance planning is imperative. in addition to general safety, it is highly recommended to bring a flashlight, helmet, and water on all spelunking outings.

adventurers should be prepared to go through challenging passages, often using ropes and flashlights, and at times crossing small lakes and rivers. the best piece of safety advice one can give is to hire a local hiking and caving guide - especially if participants are not sure about the region, as paths may be poorly marked and getting lost is easy.
