the festival de cinema curta cabo frio (cabo frio short film festival) takes place in september and aims to advance cinema art in all of its forms - the festival includes competitive categories for feature films made in the preceding year, internet videos made in the preceding year, digital shows (in any format), and film shows via 35mm productions. 

prizes are awarded for the best film, director, screenplay and most popular in addition to the curta cabo frio trophy, which is given to the best locally-produced film - always on the cutting edge of technology, it is one of the first film festivals to allow videos made on mobile devices and cameras.
