located in the district of jurujuba in niterói,  igreja de são pedro  (st. peter's church) was initially a small chapel made from wood. in 1947 the original building was replaced with a stone construction with an unusual pyramidal tower and steeple.

each year on june 29th the church coordinates a festival and maritime procession in honour of the patron saint of fishermen, st. peter. the charming celebration, which has been running for over 100 years, fosters strong community connections and honors the memory of the history as well as the cultural and spiritual heritage of the community. it is usually a lively event with performances by samba and forró bands.

st. peter's church is located at rua carlos ermelindo marins, s/ n, jurujuba, niterói - permission must be received for indoor visits.
