Thus, the two representatives of art in the city at the beginning of the Republic, the modernist scholar and the popular composer, cross the same poetic ground or the same forbidden corners of the same Lapa, the same city center, the Mangue, and thus everyday Rio forms part of the world of art that was seen as popular by the elite.
