academia brasileira de letras
is a brazilian non - profit cultural institution established at
the end of the 19th century, with the goal of cultivating and
preserving the national
language and literature.
it is based in rio de janeiro,
and has two libraries in the city - the
biblioteca
acadêmica lúcio de mendonca, formerly the biblioteca
acadêmica, which was founded at the
time of inauguration of the academy, and the
biblioteca rodolfo
garcia, created in 2005 - together they form one of the largest
public libraries in the state.
