part of the the academia brasileira de letras, and inaugurated in 2005 the biblioteca rodolfo garcia comprises a collection of about 70,000 items.

the collection specializes in philosophy, philology, linguistics, humanities, history and literature. it contains numerous rare works of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

this new library came with a technical restructuring of the academy library, new technologies were introduced and much of the collection has been computerized and, as well as a space for reading, the library contains an exhibition space.
