the south american continent is very-well known for its natural beauty and a truly unique flora and fauna.  this great diversity is still maintained in this part of the world - to some degree due to the efforts ofsome of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries on the planet, but it is also a consequence of the delayed  exploitation of the local resources,  which occured relatively recent in comparison to the rest of the world.
