kite surfers in particular, make a great and colorful show during week-ends, when the beach is crowded and dozensof multi-colored kite surfers cruise between the beach called praia do pepê, and the nearby tijuca islands. with all the buzz of  the city behind, the deep silence and calmness of the light-blue sea is a humbling sight.
