the chinese soon found out that the soil was more suitable for coffee and after settling on the hillside behind the botanical gardens many chinese immigrants began to pursue other business interests, such as constructing roads and various trades.

the road leading up the viewpoint is abundant in wildlife with many natural features including the horto waterfall, enormous trees, and beautiful fauna visible along the way. there is little urban development in the area, so the views are uninterrupted across the forest canopy and out to the atlantic ocean.
