at a glance

over 1,600 plant species grow in the tijuca forest as well as many rare bird species and small mammals such as hedgehogs, anteaters, coatis, and gambás.

getting to the vista chinesa can be achieved on foot, by car, moto-taxi, or bicycle. the climb is particularly steep so hikers need to be prepared and bring plenty of drinking water. it is also possible to take in a number of other attractions in the area, either before of after the vista.

visiting other areas of the tijuca forest, including the many trials and waterfalls, is a great thing to do, as well as taking lunch at the esquilos restaurant offering brazilian cuisine in a wonderful colonial setting. arrow-back     arrow-forward
