to get a better understanding of the history of the fort, its construction, and the military conflicts that it has been involved in, guided tours are available to guests - tours are conducted by member of the armed forces, and last between 30 to 40 minutes.

the historical remains are not the only reason that people make the journey to the forte do pico, as at the peak of the hill, where the fort stands, there are incredible panoramic views of the surrounding area.

on one side visitors are treated to stunning views of the fortaleza de santa cruz, morro da urca and the sugar loaf mountain, whilst on the other fort imbuí, and the deep expansive blue of the tropical atlantic ocean fill the horizon.
