there are few  places this good to gaze at praia da urca (urca beach), which was man-made between 1920 and 1923.

from morro do pasmado, the entire district of botafogo can also be seen, facing the guanabara bay and sheltered from the atlantic ocean by both sugar loaf mountain and the urca peninsula - the district is traditional and looks charming when viewed from the elevated position.

at night many lights illuminate the botafogo alcove, and the wealthy can be seen strolling to the yacht club for an expensive supper.
