at a glance

Pedra da Tartaruga, or 'Turtle Rock', is situated in the Parque Estadual da pedra branca. It is celebrated by locals for offering a rare return to the wilderness, as well as scenic views of the clean, wild beaches below and the emerald ocean that surrounds it.

The panoramic views from the top of the mountain are sensational, displaying beaches from Praia da Perigoso all the way to barra da tijuca, as well as pedra da gávea and Rasa Island.

The trail begins at guaratiba beach and winds past wild beaches, the quaint and charming Rasa Island, and a small natural fountain known as 'Granny Creek'. It is not particularly strenuous, as it only has an altitude of 98 meters and lasts around 45 minutes. arrow-back     arrow-forward
