the gallery collection comprises almost 1200 works of the joão sattamini collection, as well as a small set of 369 works coming from various donations.

the João Sattamini collection an important collection of brazilian art, features work of artists such as palatnik, Aluísio Carvão, amilcar de castro, ivan serpa, Dionísio Del Santo,  Lygia Clark, Ione Saldanha, antónio dias, Rubens Gerchman, Carlos Vergara, Roberto Magalhães, Anna Bella Geiger, Wanda Pimentel and sculptors such as Franz Krajcberg,  Ivens Machado, and João Goldberg.

tthe museum also houses a cultural centre,  in addition to the exhibits and restaurant, and a number of cultural activities that take place at the museum - tai chi chuan lessons, a film club, poetry readings and a cultural exchange fair are some of the events that make up the busy schedule of the mac.
