the museum of modern art of rio de janeiro (mam) is located in flamengo park, on the banks of the guanabara bay. besides being an important cultural space, it is considered one of the icons of brazilian architecture.

the postmodern building was designed by the great brazilian architect afonso eduardo reidy and opened to the public in 1958. its large windows overlook the gardens, created by the talented landscaper roberto burle marx.

mam rio offers visitors a rich panorama of brazilian art, with works by di cavalcanti, maria martins, helio oiticica, lygia clark, wyllis de castro, franz weissmann and others.
