the museum's cinematheque, which celebrated 55 years of existence in 2010, has about 30,000 rolls of film and offers regular screenings. it is a popular meeting point for carioca cinephiles. mam rio also has a bar that offers snacks and beverages, and a fine restaurant that serves contemporary cuisine.

it is located on avenida infante dom henrique 85. the nearest metrô stations are glória and catete. there are also several bus lines from zona sul and centro that go to flamengo park.

open tuesday through friday from noon to 6pm, weekends and holidays from noon to 7pm. entrance fee is r$8.
